SHIBA uses certified volunteer counselors to help people with Medicare make informed health insurance decisions. Our program saves Medicare beneficiaries money by making sure they receive all possible benefits. SHIBA is funded by a federal grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Free services are available to people with Medicare, their family members, caregivers, and advocates.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone, free of charge, with a focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.

IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is available to taxpayers who generally make $58,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and taxpayers who speak limited English. The IRS also offers a free Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program. For more information about these programs, please click here.
